    Ubiquitin-specific protease 10 (USP10), a novel deubiquitinating enzyme, is associated with androgen receptor transcriptional activity and pathological processes of tumor. However, information between USP10 and the adrenal gland is limited. In particular, the role of USP10 in adrenal tumors has not been elucidated yet. This study aims to investigate the expression of USP10 in the human normal adrenal gland and various adrenal tumors. Tissue samples were obtained from 30 adrenocortical adenomas, nine adrenocortical adenocarcinomas, and 20 pheochromocytomas following laparoscopic surgery. Twenty normal adrenal glands were obtained from kidney surgical resection conducted due to renal cell carcinomas. USP10 expression was investigated on protein levels using immunohistochemistry and on mRNA levels using bioinformatics analysis in the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) Datasets. In the 20 cases of normal adrenal glands analyzed, USP10 protein was constantly expressed in situ in the cortex of the adrenal glands, but in the medulla of the gland, only the sustentacular cells were detected positive. In adrenal tumors, detectable levels of USP10 protein were found in 100 % (30/30) adrenocortical adenomas, 88.89 % (8/9) adrenocortical carcinomas, and 10 % (2/20) pheochromocytomas. Bioinformatics analysis did not show a significant difference in USP10 messenger RNA (mRNA) expression between adrenal tumors and normal adrenal gland tissues. A positive USP10 immunoreaction can be useful in distinguishing adrenal cortical tumors from pheochromocytoma.

  • METHOD FOR MEASURING THICKNESS BY PULSED INFRARED THERMAL WAVE TECHNOLOGY

    A method for measuring thickness or defect depth by pulsed infrared thermal wave technology includes the following steps: 1. heating a measured object (2) by pulsed heating devices, at the same time, obtaining a thermal image sequence on the surface of the measured object (2) by a infrared thermography device, and storing the thermal image sequence in a general-purpose storage; 2. multiplying a temperature-time curve on every point of the thermal image sequence by of corresponding time, thereby obtaining a new curve; 3. calculating first-order differential to and obtaining a peak time thereof; 4. calculating by a formula, wherein is a thermal diffusivity, and is the thickness or the defect depth of the measured object (2). The thickness or the defect depth of the measured object (2) can be measured by the above solution. The processing method is simple because it only needs once differential without a reference curve.

    We present an efficient strategy for sharing multipartite polarization entanglement between distant locations via the noisy channel assisted by the time-bin degree of freedom. We demonstrate an entanglement purification protocol for the three-qubit Greenberge-Horne-Zeilinger state and an entanglement distribution protocol for the three-qubit W state. We also generalize the protocol to distribute arbitrary N-photon polarization states to N distant locations. Our schemes do not consume a large number of less-entangled systems and the remote parties can share the desired state in a deterministic way with 100% fidelity in principle. These advantages make our method useful and practical in long-distance quantum communication.

  • Surface Temperature Monitoring of Casting Strand Based on CCD Image

    Continuous casting process is used for the solidification of molten steel into semi-finished shapes. Due to lack of reliable sensors online, manual monitoring was often essential to cooling control, which was time consuming and inefficient. This paper proposes an approach to automatically monitor high-temperature casting strand based on radiation thermometry, with the help of CCD (charge coupled device) camera and digital image processing technology. The bicolorimetric temperature measurement method is introduced in detail, as well as the working principle of CCD. Programs developed by Visual C++ 6.0 complete the acquisition, processing, calculation and visualization of casting strand image data. Besides, some experiment of temperature test was carried out for bloom casting (section size of 260 mmx300 mm) in a domestic steel plant so as to verify the monitoring model. Consequently, the purpose for monitoring casting strand is achieved, which is beneficial to cooling control in the process of continuous casting.

  • Specified value based defect depth prediction using pulsed thermography

    Several methods have been reported in the literature using pulsed thermography for quantitative measurement of defect depth or sample thickness. In this paper, based on the analysis of a theoretical one-dimensional solution of pulsed thermography, a new method was proposed to first multiply the original temperature decay with square root of the corresponding time to obtain a monotonically increasing function f. A specific time was obtained by setting f equals to a predefined value, the theoretical model shows that the obtained specific time has linear relation with square of defect depth, which was verified with the experimental results of one aluminum and one glass fiber reinforced polymer specimen machined with six flat-bottom wedges as simulated defects. This linearity can be used for defect depth prediction in pulsed thermography.
