• Zeta functions and subgroup growth in\\({\\varvec{P}}2{\\varvec{/}m}\\)

    Alajbegovi?, Hermina Avdispahi?, Muharem

By means of zeta and normal zeta functions of space groups, we determine the number of subgroups, resp. normal subgroups, of the tenth crystallographic group for any given index. This enables us to draw conclusions on the subgroup growth and the degree of this group.

  • The (m, q)-Isometric Weighted Shifts on l (p) Spaces

    Gu, Caixing

In this paper we characterize weighted shifts (both unilateral and bilateral) on l (p) spaces that are (m, q)-isometries. We explicitly construct the weights of those operators. Properties of those operators, such as norm, similarity and a Berger-Shaw-type result, are also discussed.

  • Constraints on variations of m(p)/m(e) based on UVES observations of H-2

    Wendt, M.

This article summarizes the latest results on the proton-to-electron mass ratio derived from H-2 observations at high redshift in the light of possible variations of fundamental physical constants. The focus lies on UVES observations of the past years as enormous progress was achieved since the first positive results on / were published. With the better understanding of systematics, dedicated observation runs, and numerous approaches to improve wavelength calibration accuracy, all current findings are in reasonable good agreement with no variation and provide an upper limit of / < 1 x 10(-5) for the redshift range of 2 < z < 3. • MATERIALS AND PROCESS FOR SPATIAL S/P RATIO DISTRIBUTION

A light fixture is disclosed having a plurality of light sources belonging to at least two types emitting light of different S/P ratio. The light sources are placed in the light fixture so that the light fixture, when in use, emits a light bundle having varying S/P ratios within the bundle. In an embodiment the light bundle has a central area with low S/P ratio, and peripheral areas having higher S/P ratio. The S/P ratio in the peripheral areas can be as high as 5 or even higher. In an alternate embodiment the light bundle has a central area with relatively S/P ratio, and peripheral areas having lower S/P ratio. The S/P ratio in the peripheral areas can be as low as 2 or even lower. The light fixtures are particularly suitable for outdoor lighting, for example street lighting.

  • What Makes the S&P 500 Jump?

    Marcel Prokopczuk Chardin Wese Simen

Using intraday transaction prices and a non-parametric test, we study jumps in the S&P 500. We show that jumps are low probability, high impact events. We use a comprehensive set of newswires to explore the events that trigger jumps. We are able to relate around 80% of jumps to scheduled and, more importantly, unscheduled news. Interestingly, unscheduled events frequently trigger the largest jumps in the stock market, confirming the intuition that unexpected news truly "shocks" the market. We investigate why some announcements trigger jumps, while other similar news does not. We find limited evidence in support of a positive relationship between announcement surprises and disagreement on the one hand, and the likelihood of jumps on the other.

  • Self-dual codes over the ring GR(p(m), g) and Jacobi forms

    Ankur

We take a Galois ring GR(p(m), g) and discuss about the self-dual codes and its properties over the ring. We will also describe the relationship between Clifford-Weil group and Jacobi forms by constructing the invariant polynomial ring with the complete weight enumerator.
