A water-soluble oligo(p-phenylkene vinylene) [4,4′-(1,4-phenylene dithenylene)-bis-(N-methyl pyridinium iodide)] was synthesized by Witting reaction. The oligomer was characterized by NMR, elemental analysis, UV-visible spectrum, surface photovoltage spectrum and fluorescence spectrum.
In various embodiments, methods and systems for optimizing data transfer are provided. Data transfer optimization is accomplished by a data transfer optimization server. A data transfer session is initiated. The initiation of the data transfer session comprises analyzing transfer parameters for one or more data-source devices. An optimum number of concurrent network calls is calculated for the data transfer session. The calculation is based on the data transfer parameters. At least a portion of the optimum number of concurrent network calls is allocated for executing the data transfer session. The transfer parameters are monitored for changes. The optimum number of concurrent network calls is updated for the data transfer session based on a triggering event associated with the data transfer session. Updating the optimum number of concurrent network calls comprises recalculating the optimum number of concurrent network calls based on the transfer parameters after the trigger event.
A method for a mobile platform containing a mobile terminal having an operating system includes initializing a plurality of user environments (UEs) on the mobile terminal over the operating system, including a current UE running on the mobile terminal. The plurality of UEs are capable of being switched among one another based on one or more of predetermined conditions without changing the operating system. The method also includes collecting sensing data on certain parameters associated with operation of the mobile terminal, and processing the sensing data to indicate at least one of the predetermined conditions. Further, the method includes determining whether the current UE suits the at least one of the predetermined conditions indicated by processing the sensing data and, when the current UE does not suit the condition of the mobile terminal, switching the current UE to a desired UE from the plurality of UEs.
A network listening method of a mobile phone is provided. The mobile phone includes a code division multiple access (CDMA) chip and two user identity module (UIM) cards. The network listening method executes a first network listening method to listen to a communication network, if a listening frequency of the first UIM card equals a listening frequency of the second UIM card and the listening channel of first UIM card equals the listening channel of the second UIM card. The network listening method further executes a second network listening method to listen to the communication network, if the listening frequency of the first UIM card does not equal the listening frequency of the second UIM card and/or the listening channel of first UIM card does not equal the listening channel of second UIM card.
An apparatus and method for improving data transfers between a network and a network device is provided. The apparatus comprising a data input, a programmable counter adapted to counting the number of data packets received, an interrupt generator for signaling a microprocessor upon a signal from said programmable counter, a data processing block for examining the contents of data packets for an end-of-packet flag, and an output.

Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) poses a significant global health problem. It mainly occurs in preterm infants. It is histopathologically characterized by fewer and larger alveoli and less secondary septa, suggesting an arrested or disordered lung development. To date, the mechanisms that lead to the pathophysiological changes in BPD have still not been totally understood. In embryonic development, histone deacetylase (HDAC) plays an important role by regulating gene transcription. Here, we hypothesize that a decreased HDAC expression and activity, caused by preterm birth or environmental stresses, contribute to a disorder in alveolar development in BPD. To this end, newborn Sprague–Dawley rats subjected to hyperoxia (85% O2) were used to investigate the gene expression and protein activity of HDAC and alveolar development in lungs. Our results showed that hyperoxia exposure led to a suppression of the HDAC1/HDAC2 expression and activity, and the overall HDAC activity, as well as arrest of alveolarization, and an elevated expression of the cytokine-induced neutrophil chemoattractant-1 (CINC-1) in the lungs of newborn rats. However, preservation of HDAC activity by theophylline significantly improved alveolar development and attenuated CINC-1 release, all of which were blocked by a specific HDAC inhibitor, trichostatin A (TSA). TSA alone can disturb the alveolar development in neonatal rats. Our findings indicate that a persistent exposure to hyperoxia leads to a suppressed HDAC activity, which causes disorders in pulmonary development. This effect may be mediated by CINC-1. Attenuation of CINC-1-mediated inflammation by activating HDAC may have a protective effect in BPD. Pediatr Pulmonol. 2012; 47:264–274.
This paper presents a novel algorithm of stereo correspondence by using Laplacian spectra of graphs. Firstly, according to the feature points of two images to be matched, a Laplacian matrix with Gaussian-weighted distance is defined and a closed-form solution is given in terms of the matching matrix constructed on the vectors of eigenspace of the Laplacian matrix. Secondly, we introduce a new method to judge correspondences by using doubly stochastic matrix. Thirdly, in order to render our method robust, we describe an approach to embedding the Laplacian spectral method within the framework of iterative correspondence and transformation estimation. Experimental results show the feasibility and comparatively high accuracy of our methods.

A mounting assembly for computer cover includes a chassis having a rearwall, a cover mounted to the chassis, a first connecting bar and second connecting bar movably mounted on the rearwall of the chassis and a driving member mounted on the chassis. The cover has two opposite sidewalls. A protrusion extends from each of the sidewalls. Each of the two connecting bars forms a stopping portion for engaging with the protrusion. A driving portion is provided on the driving member for urging the two connecting bars to move. The driving portion of the driving member drives the two connecting bars to urge the stopping portions to disengage from the protrusions when the driving member is driven.
