  • Pixel having two cascade-connected sample stages, pixel array, and method of operating same

A pixel includes a photo-sensitive element for generating charges in response to incident radiation. A transfer gate is positioned between the photo-sensitive element and a sense node for controlling transfer of charges to the sense node. A reset switch is connected to the sense node for resetting the sense node to a predetermined voltage. A first buffer amplifier has an input connected to the sense node and an output connected to a sample stage operable to sample a value of the sense node. A second buffer amplifier has an input connected to the sample stage. Control circuitry operates the reset switch and causes the sample stage to sample the sense node while the photo-sensitive element is exposed to radiation. An array of pixels is synchronously exposed to radiation. Sampled values for a first exposure period can be read while the photo-sensitive element is exposed for a second exposure period.

  • Apparatus and method for electrochemical corrosion monitoring

A method and apparatus are provided for monitoring a corrosion current density to determine a corrosion rate of a corroding system 130 using Electrochemical Frequency Modulation (EFM). In the method two sinusoidal signals 100, 105, having different frequencies are applied to a portion of the system 130 to distort a response current 120 in the system. Analysis of this current 120 generated in response to the applied perturbation signal 110 provides the corrosion rate and Tafel parameters of the system 130 without prior knowledge of the Tafel parameters. In one embodiment, the method and apparatus also provide a mechanism for validating the quality of the measured data used in calculating the corrosion rate and Tafel parameters.

  • Plate assembly

The present invention provides an assembly of a first panel formed with at least one insertion notch extending inwardly from at least one panel edge and a second panel carrying at least one projecting tab extending outwardly of at least one of its edge and fitting in one of the notches. The tab has on at least one of its sides a shoulder defining an edge which is located along the projecting length of the tab at a position intermediate the free edge of the tab and its base, which usually coincides with the edge of the panel from which it projects. The shoulder edge is in abutting contact with a region of the first panel adjacent the insertion notch in the first panel in which the tab fits and functions to maintain the associated edge of the second panel out of contact with the first panel so that the relative positions of the panels is determined by such abutting contact and is independent of other factors, such as the precise linearity of the panel edge. Multiple tabs can be provided on the same panel and in the same plane for insertion into corresponding notches.

  • Panel assembly

The present invention provides an assembly of a first panel formed with at least one insertion slot and a second panel carrying at least one projecting tab extending outwardly of at least one of its edges and fitting in the slot. The tab has on at least one of its sides a shoulder defining an edge which is located along the projecting length of the tab at a position intermediate the free edge of the tab and its base. The shoulder edge is in abutting contact with a region of the first panel adjacent one of the insertion slot and thus maintains the associated edge of the second panel out of contact with the first panel so that the relative positions of the panels is determined by such abutting contact. The first and second panels can be positively secured together by means of an interconnection element, preferably in the form of an integral flange bent up from one of the panels, which is attached to one or both other panel by screws, bolts and nuts or similar attachment devices. The plane of an integral interconnection element should be displaced inwardly of the plane of the shoulder edge to prevent interference with the precise locating function of the shoulder edge.

  • Inductive device comprising a toroidal core

An inductive device comprises a first winding which is provided on a core and which is composed of electrically conductive segments which are shaped approximately as a U-shaped plate having two substantially parallel end portions of unequal width and a wedge-shaped central portion. The segments are formed as metallized portions of the outer surface of a cap which is made of an electrically insulating material and which is shaped as a ring having a U-shaped cross-section. The segments are electrically isolated from one another by non-metallized strip-shaped portions of the outer surface of the cap. The cap comprises includes metallized pins which constitute connection members for the segments and which are connected to electrical conductors, for example, on a printed circuit board. In conjunction with the segments, the conductors constitute the first winding.

  • SLOPING ROOF PROVIDED WITH ROOFING TILES AND TIL HOOK TO BE USED FOR A ROOF OF THIS TYPE

The roof tiles (1) of a sloping roof rest by means of a ridge on tile laths (2) and overlap one another in two directions. They are fixed by means of tile hooks (4) and each tile hook (4) comprises a first shaft section (7), which at the free end has a hook-shaped bend (8) which grips around a closing groove (6) on a side edge of a first tile, a second shaft section (9), which at the free end has means (10) by which the tile hook is fixed to a tile lath (2), and a shoulder (11), which is located between the two shaft sections (7 and 9) and engages on the rear surface of a second tile partially located under said first tile. The two shaft sections (7 and 9) of the tile hooks are essentially perpendicular to the shoulder (11).

  • Isometries and Construction of Permutation Arrays

    Bogaerts   M.

An (n,d)-permutation code is a subset C of Sym(n) such that the Hamming distance d_H between any two distinct elements of C is at least equal to d . In this paper, we use the characterization of the isometry group of the metric space (Sym(n),d_H) in order to develop generating algorithms with rejection of isomorphic objects. To classify the (n,d) -permutation codes up to isometry, we construct invariants and study their efficiency. We give the numbers of nonisometric (4, 3) - and (5, 4)- permutation codes. Maximal and balanced (n,d)-permutation codes are enumerated in a constructive way.
