  • Anti-vasa antibodies, and methods of production and use thereof

    Anti-VASA antibodies (mAbs), particularly humanized mAbs that specifically bind to VASA with high affinity, are disclosed. The amino acid sequences of the CDRs of the light chains and the heavy chains, as well as consensus sequences for these CDRs, of these anti-VASA mAbs are provided. The disclosure also provides nucleic acid molecules encoding the anti-VASA mAbs, expression vectors, host cells, methods for making the anti-VASA mAbs, and methods for expressing the anti-VASA mAbs. Finally, methods of using the anti-VASA mAbs to isolate and/or purify cells expressing VASA are disclosed.

    A method of manufacturing an oral care implement comprising: (a) providing a body comprising a handle portion and a head portion, the head portion having a hole extending there through from a first side to a second side; (b) providing a layer of first material on the handle portion and the head portion to form a subassembly comprising a handle section, comprising the handle portion and a first portion of the layer of first material, and a head section, comprising the head portion and a second portion of the layer of first material; and (c) then injection molding a second material onto the head section to form one or more oral care elements of the second material on the head section and a member of the second material in the hole, which member is unitary with the one or more oral care elements.

  • Method and apparatus for distortion correction in optical communication links

    In some embodiments, an apparatus includes an optical transmitter module that can be electrically coupled to an electrical serializer/deserializer and a controller. The optical transmitter module can include an electrical detector that can receive an in-band signal. The electrical detector can send to the controller a first power error signal and a second power error signal based on the in-band signal. The controller can send a correction control signal to the electrical serializer/deserializer based on the first power error signal and the second power error signal such that the electrical serializer/deserializer sends a pre-emphasized signal to the optical transmitter module based on the correction control signal. In such embodiments, the first power error signal, the second power signal and the correction control signal are out-of-band signals.

    A bidirectional Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (MOS) device, including a P-type substrate, and an active region. The active region includes a drift region, a first MOS structure and a second MOS structure; the first MOS structure includes a first P-type body region, a first P+ contact region, a first N+ source region, a first metal electrode, and a first gate structure; the second MOS structure includes a second P-type body region, a second P+ contact region, a second N+ source region, a second metal electrode, and a second gate structure; and the drift region includes a dielectric slot, a first N-type layer, a second N-type layer, and an N-type region. The active region is disposed on the upper surface of the P-type substrate. The first MOS structure and the second MOS structure are symmetrically disposed on two ends of the upper layer of the drift region.

    An optical device may include a transmitter to provide an optical signal via a set of channels and a modulator. The optical device may include two or more tributary modulators to modulate the set of channels with a training pattern. The optical device may include a set of optics to alter a first channel relative to a second channel of the set of channels. The optical device may include a detector to determine an optical power measurement of the optical signal after the first channel is altered relative to the second channel. The optical device may include a controller to generate a control signal to adjust a power balance associated with the optical signal based on the optical power measurement. The optical device may include a controller to provide the control signal to a tributary modulator to alter a modulation of the optical signal.

    A phase alignment architecture enhances the performance of communication systems. The architecture aligns a divided clock (e.g., in differential Inphase (I) and Quadrature (Q)) to a main clock, even at extremely high speeds, where skew variations of the divided clock are comparable to the main clock period. The improvement in phase alignment facilitates ultra high-speed communications.

  • Fluorescence enhancing plasmonic nanoscopic gold films and assays based thereon

    Disclosed are nanostructured gold films which may be produced by solution-phase depositions of gold ions onto a variety of surfaces. The resulting plasmonic gold films are used for enhanced spectroscopic-based immunoassays in multiplexed microarray format with detection mechanisms based on either surface-enhanced Raman scattering or near-infrared fluorescence enhancement. The preparation of the films and subsequent modifications of the gold film surfaces afford increased sensitivity for various microarrays. The films are discontinuous, forming gold “islands.” Sensitivity, size, shape, and density of the nanoscopic gold islands comprising the discontinuous nanostructured gold film are controlled to enhance the intensity of Raman scattering and fluorescence in the near-infrared, allowing for improved measurements in clinical diagnostic or biomedical research applications.

  • Method of using alpha-amylase from Aspergillus clavatus for saccharification

    A fungal α-amylase is provided from Aspergillus clavatus (AcAmyl). AcAmyl has an optimal pH of 4.5 and is operable at 30-75° C., allowing the enzyme to be used in combination with a glucoamylase in a saccharification reaction. This obviates the necessity of running a saccharification reaction as a batch process, where the pH and temperature must be readjusted for optimal use of the α-amylase or glucoamylase. AcAmyl also catalyzes the saccharification of starch substrates to an oligosaccharide composition significantly enriched in DP2 and (DP1+DP2) compared to the products of saccharification catalyzed by an α-amylase from Aspergillus kawachii. This facilitates the utilization of the oligosaccharide composition by a fermenting organism in a simultaneous saccharification and fermentation process, for example.

The method includes: acquiring an image; recognizing a face contained in the image; acquiring information of character features according to the face in the image; processing the image according to the information of character features; and obtaining the processed image. In the embodiments of the present disclosure, by automatically recognizing the face in the image, and acquiring the information of character features thereby acquiring a cosmetic process mode corresponding to the information of character features, and then processing the image according to the selected cosmetic process mode, manual setting of cosmetic process parameters can be avoided and the efficiency of image processing can be improved.

  • Multi-phase SMPS with load transient control and associated control method

    The present invention discloses a multi-phase switch-mode power supply (SMPS). The multi-phase SMPS may comprise a plurality of comparing circuits and a controller. Wherein each comparing circuit comprises a first input coupled to a threshold voltage, a second input coupled to a feedback signal of the output voltage, and an output configured to provide a load indication signal. The controller may have a plurality of inputs coupled to the outputs of the comparing circuit, and a plurality of outputs configured to provide control signals for driving a plurality of switches of the multi-phase SMPS. And the controller is configured to selectively turn on a plurality of the switches according to the load indication signals.

  • Constant on time multi-phase switching converter and control method thereof

    A multi-phase switching converter comprising a plurality of switching circuits, a comparing circuit and a control circuit. The comparing circuit generates a comparison signal based on a reference signal and the output voltage of the multi-phase switching converter. The control circuit can turn on the following switching circuit based on the comparison signal only after the time from the current switching circuit being turned on reaches a first time threshold or the off-time of the current switching circuit reaches a second time threshold, wherein the first time threshold is longer than the second time threshold.
