    A system is described for fabricating solar cells in a large-scale solar cell fabrication facility. The system includes a first processing station, a second processing station, and a wafer-storage apparatus positioned between the first processing station and the second processing station. A microenvironment within the wafer-storage apparatus is substantially separate from a large environment of the large-scale solar cell fabrication facility, and the microenvironment is filtered to reduce chemicals, moisture, and volatile organic compound. The wafer-storage apparatus is configured to temporarily store wafers emerging from the first processing station and queuing for processing at the second processing station.

    One embodiment of the present invention provides a solar module. The solar module includes a front-side cover, a back-side cover, and a plurality of solar cells situated between the front- and back-side covers. A respective solar cell includes a multi-layer semiconductor structure, a front-side electrode situated above the multi-layer semiconductor structure, and a back-side electrode situated below the multi-layer semiconductor structure. Each of the front-side and the back-side electrodes comprises a metal grid. A respective metal grid comprises a plurality of finger lines and a single busbar coupled to the finger lines. The single busbar is configured to collect current from the finger lines.

    A system for the optical measurement of pH includes a light emitter to emit an excitation light, and a detector coupled to receive florescence light produced by a compound in a mouth of a patient in response to the excitation light. A controller is coupled to the detector, and the controller includes logic that when executed by the controller, causes the system to perform operations. The operations may include emitting the excitation light from the light emitter; measuring an intensity of the florescence light emitted from a surface of individual teeth in a plurality of teeth in the mouth; and determining, based on the intensity of the florescence light, one or more locations on the individual teeth likely to develop demineralization.

    An indoor unit of a floor air conditioner comprises a unit body (20) and an air outlet frame (10) rotatably disposed at the top of the unit body (20). An electrical element is disposed on the air outlet frame (10). A conductive wire (30) for supplying power to the electrical element is disposed on the unit body (20). The indoor unit of the floor air conditioner further comprises a fixture (40) for fixing the conductive wire (30) on an rotation axis, the conductive wire being located at the upper part of the unit body (20) and/or at the lower part of the air outlet frame (10), and the rotation axis being located at or near the air outlet frame (10). In this way, hinged joint of the conductive wire (30) can be avoided, which is beneficial to normal rotation of the air outlet frame (10). The present invention further provides a floor air conditioner, and the floor air conditioner comprises the foregoing indoor unit of the floor air conditioner.

  • L-Arabinose isomerase and its use for biotechnological production of rare sugars

    L-Arabinose isomerase (AI), a key enzyme in the microbial pentose phosphate pathway, has been regarded as an important biological catalyst in rare sugar production. This enzyme could isomerize L-arabinose into L-ribulose, as well as D-galactose into D-tagatose. Both the two monosaccharides show excellent commercial values in food and pharmaceutical industries. With the identification of novel AI family members, some of them have exhibited remarkable potential in industrial applications. The biological production processes for D-tagatose and L-ribose (or L-ribulose) using AI have been developed and improved in recent years. Meanwhile, protein engineering techniques involving rational design has effectively enhanced the catalytic properties of various AIs. Moreover, the crystal structure of AI has been disclosed, which sheds light on the understanding of AI structure and catalytic mechanism at molecular levels. This article reports recent developments in (i) novel AI screening, (ii) AI-mediated rare sugar production processes, (iii) molecular modification of AI, and (iv) structural biology study of AI. Based on previous reports, an analysis of the future development has also been initiated.

    One embodiment of the present invention provides a tunneling-junction solar cell. The solar cell includes a base layer, an emitter layer situated adjacent to the shallow counter doping layer, a surface field layer situated adjacent to a side of the base layer opposite to the shallow counter doping layer, a front-side electrode, and a back-side electrode. The base layer includes a shallow counter doping layer having a conduction doping type that is opposite to a remainder of the base layer. The emitter layer has a bandgap that is wider than that of the base layer.

    Disclosed is an integrated terminal, comprising: a set top box unit, a home gateway unit, a main control plane and an interconnection backplane; the main control plane establishes communication connections with a multi-media device and an internet device respectively, connects the set top box unit and the home gateway unit respectively through the interconnection backplane, and the main control plane is used to control the set top box unit to provide television service for the multi-media device via control interconnection bus and multi-media interconnection bus of the interconnection backplane when receiving control signal, sent by the remote control, for controlling the set top box unit, then further used to control the home gateway unit to provide internet access service for the internet device via the control interconnection bus and IP network interconnection bus of the interconnection backplane based on user network parameters. The present invention decreases the number of service terminals when user using different services, and decreases the frequent cabling connection operations by user to the input and output cable in the way of providing television service and internet access service in one service terminal.

  • RAPID AND ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY METHOD FOR PREPARING SINGLE-LAYER GRAPHENE OXIDE

    Provided is a rapid and environmentally-friendly method for preparing a large amount of single-layer graphene oxide, comprising: 1) mixing, stirring and soaking graphite and a strong acid, adding a strong oxidant (ferrate) and a stabilizer, slowly heating and continuously stirring to oxidize and exfoliate graphite sheets; 2) performing centrifugal separation on the reaction liquid, removing the strong acid, slowly pouring the mud-like product into icy deionized water to dilute, leaving the same to stand, repeatedly washing the precipitate with diluted hydrochloric acid and deionized water, and obtaining single-layer graphene oxide by means of centrifugal separation. The method is simple, safe, and energy efficient, and does not use a polluting halogen or heavy metal oxidizing agent.

    Provided are a method for downloading an application program, comprising a first user equipment, which has an association relationship with a second user equipment, transmitting to an application server a downloading request regarding an application program downloaded by the second user equipment after learning of the application program downloaded by the second user equipment, the downloading request carrying the capability information about the first user equipment; and the first user equipment receiving an application program which is transmitted by the application server and matches the capability information about the first user equipment for downloading. By means of the above technical solution, after a user equipment learns of an application program downloaded by another user equipment having an association relationship therewith, by providing its own capability information, without being downloaded by the user equipment manually, an application program matching its own capability information can be automatically acquired from an application server for downloading, thereby saving labor, and improving the flexibility of downloading an application program.

  • Synthesis and enhanced nonlinear optical properties of graphene/CdS organic glass

    Graphene/CdS (G/CdS) nanocomposite was first fabricated by a hydrothermal method. G/CdS nanocomposite was then dispersed in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) for preparation of organic glass by a casting method. The G/CdS/PMMA organic glass exhibits enhanced nonlinear optical (NLO) properties compared to G/PMMA and CdS/PMMA organic glass. Moreover, NLO properties of the G/CdS/PMMA organic glass can be controlled by adjusting the addition amount of G/CdS nanocomposite in PMMA. Our results demonstrate that the G/CdS/PMMA organic glass is very promising for optical devices, such as optical limiters and optical switch. (C) 2013 American Institute of Physics.
