  • Device for cooling an exhaust gas stream

A device for cooling an exhaust gas stream, having an exhaust gas pipe receiving the exhaust gas stream, the exhaust gas pipe being surrounded at least in places by a heat shield arranged spaced therefrom, which together with the outside of the exhaust gas pipe forms a convection region for air supplied from the surrounding environment. A mouth region of the exhaust gas pipe extended relative to the heat shield projects in such a way into an open end of an adjoining outlet port that a reduced pressure relative to the surrounding environment may be produced in a suction region between the mouth region of the exhaust gas pipe and the outlet port as the air heated in the convection region due to the exhaust gas stream rises.

  • Method and system for managing inventory for a migration using forecast/inventory displays

The invention provides one or more displays to assist a user in managing inventory for one or more migration components in a migration. In particular, forecast data for each migration component is generated based on migration data for one or more targets and a plurality of time frames. One or more displays are generated that include the forecast data, migration data, and/or inventory data for the migration components.

  • Liquid crystal waveguide having two or more control voltages for controlling polarized light

A waveguide and method for controllably altering an optical phase delay (OPD) of light traveling along a propagation direction through the waveguide. Many embodiments are disclosed, and in one example, a waveguide may include a core for guiding the light through the waveguide; at least one cladding adjacent the core, wherein the at least one cladding has liquid crystal molecules disposed therein; at least one electrode for receiving a first voltage for controllably altering the optical phase delay of the TE polarized light traveling through the waveguide; and at least one electrode for receiving a second voltage for controllably altering the optical phase delay of the TM polarized light traveling through the waveguide.

  • Fused heterocyclic M1 receptor positive allosteric modulators

The present invention is directed to fused heterocyclic compounds of formula (I): which are M1 receptor positive allosteric modulators and that are useful in the treatment of diseases in which the M1 receptor is involved, such as Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, pain or sleep disorders. The invention is also directed to pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds, and to the use of the compounds and compositions in the treatment of diseases mediated by the M1 receptor.

  • Instruction for enabling a processor wait state

In one embodiment, the present invention includes a processor having a core with decode logic to decode an instruction prescribing an identification of a location to be monitored and a timer value, and a timer coupled to the decode logic to perform a count with respect to the timer value. The processor may further include a power management unit coupled to the core to determine a type of a low power state based at least in part on the timer value and cause the processor to enter the low power state responsive to the determination. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Rotatable charging apparatus, and printing machine including the same

A rotatable charging apparatus includes a length extending between a first end and a second end, with the rotatable charging apparatus centered about an axis parallel to the length. The rotatable charging apparatus outer periphery forms N apparatus positions. One charging device is fixed to each of N-1 apparatus positions. The remaining (Nth) apparatus position is devoid of a charging device, thus forming an "empty" charging device position. A host printing machine selectively causes the rotatable charging apparatus to rotate about its axis thereby selectively position any of its N-1 charging devices to face a proximately-located photosensitive element. When a problem exists with the current charging device, or when the total number of operating hours of the current charging device exceeds a fixed threshold, the printing machine causes the rotatable charging apparatus to rotate from its current charging device to position a new charging device facing the photosensitive element. Also, the printing machine causes the rotatable charging apparatus to rotate from its current charging device to the empty charging device position facing the photosensitive element when a power-down or hard-stop condition exists in the printing machine.

  • Use of temporary optimized settings to reduce cycle time of automatically created spreadsheets

Aspects of the present invention provide a solution for reducing cycle time of automatically created spreadsheets. Specifically, an embodiment of the present invention provides a way to create a spreadsheet from data that is in a native format more quickly and/or efficiently. To do so, the invention accesses a control file using optimized settings to create the spreadsheet. Then, after creation of the spreadsheet, the invention uses a second control file having the final settings to modify the spreadsheet in preparation for output. The invention may use agents to perform all or a portion of these activities.

  • Two player golf clubs and games playable with the same

A two-handled club for use by two persons simultaneously for striking a ball toward a target and a game for using same. The club is such that one handle or grip is oriented as a left-handed club, while the opposite handle is oriented as a right-handed club. A team comprising of two members, each grasps a club handle and simultaneously strikes the ball towards a target. A winner may be determined, for example, by the team requiring the fewest strokes to get to the target.

  • Optical fibers and processes and apparatus for making the same

A large core polymeric optical fiber having improved light transmitting characteristics includes a cladding filled with a light transmitting core. The core is formed during a polymerization reaction within the cladding in which the pressure internal to the cladding is greater than the pressure external to the cladding to form a pressure differential supported by the cladding.

  • Sustained delivery of an active agent using an implantable system

The invention is directed to a device for delivering an active agent formulation for a predetermined administration period. An impermeable reservoir is divided into a water-swellable agent chamber and an active agent formulation chamber. Fluid from the environment is imbibed through a semipermeable plug into the water-swellable agent chamber and the active agent formulation is released through a back-diffusion regulating outlet. Delivery periods of up to 2 years are achieved.

  • Promotional one-piece mailer assembly having an integral coupon card

A promotional one-piece mailer assembly having two layers of card stock. A release liner is sandwiched between the two layers of card stock. An integral card is formed within the first and second layers of card stock. A plurality of mini-coupons are detachably cut into the integral card through the second layer of card stock. The assembly is characterized by a series of score lines cut through the first and second layers of card stock and the liner and spaced from the peripheral edges of the first and second layers of card stock to completely define the card integrally disposed within the mailer assembly and to securely maintain the card within the mailer assembly.

  • Neon gas discharge lamp providing white light with improved phosphor

A neon lamp providing white light is disclosed. The lamp is operated to stimulate the neon to emit both ultraviolet light, and visible red light. A phosphor coating responsive to the ultraviolet light produces a complementary green blue light that in combination with the neon red light yields a white light. The lamp is small, efficient, and not subject to the effects of cold that cause mercury based fluorescent lamps to operate poor in cold conditions typical of out of door operation.
