Abstract(summary):

In this paper, we present two different approaches to responsible research and innovation in synthetic biology. By combining these approaches, we aim to facilitate a process of mutual learning, involving young students involved in the international Genetically Engineered Machines (iGEM) competition, researchers from the field and a variety of societal stakeholders in the governance of synthetic biology innovation.
