The blowout phenomenon is of crucial interest to prevent major accidents in facilities and to suppress uncontrolled jet fires. Previous works have been devoted to experimentally analyse the conditions at which the blowout occurs. Nevertheless, there are no generalised equations available to predict the conditions at which the jet flames are self-extinguished. Based on a vast database covering 429 tests, this work present a state-of-art equation able to determine the blowout velocity of jet flames involving multiple gas fuels, wind conditions, flow regimes and orientations.
