Author:

Journal:
Information Security Journal: A Global Perspective

Issue Date:
2015

Abstract(summary):

This article it is a modest attempt to explore the issues facing cyber security awareness and training programs and potential benefits of using learning analytics, an emerging field in data analytics, for combining existing data sources to provide additional value to these programs. This article was written under the assumption that awareness and training are valid preventive controls and therefore the pros and cons of implementing such programs are not being discussed. Karina Korpela, CISA, CISM, CISSP, PMP, is the IT Audit Manager at AltaLink, a Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company and Alberta’s largest transmission provider. Karina has over 13 years of experience with IT risks and controls, performing data analytics, and developing Continuous Controls Monitoring applications for many different business processes. She began her career at Coopers&Lybrand as a System Administrator and she was later invited to join their Computer Audit Assistance Group (CAAG) as an IT Auditor. She eventually became a Manager in PricewaterhouCooper’s Global Risk Management Solution practice.
