Aims/hypothesis Glomerular matrix accumulation is a hallmark of diabetic nephropathy. Recent data have linked the serine/threonine kinase protein kinase B (Akt) to matrix modulation. Here, we studied its role in high glucose-induced collagen elaboration by mesangial cells.
