Abstract(summary):

A low power receiver RF front-end operating in the 5GHz band according to the IEEE 802.11a WLAN standard is reported. This is based on the dual conversion architecture for the fully integrated receiver, in order to relax the problem of the direct conversion receiver. In the RF front-end, the power consumption is greatly reduced by using the dual conversion current-driven passive mixer with linear transconductor stage. The receiver RF front-end is fabricated with 0.13 mu m CMOS technology. An IIP3 of -15.8 dBm with a gain of 37.2 dB and a noise figure of 7.1 dB are obtained at 16.8 mW power consumption.
