    Embodiments are disclosed that relate to enforcement of user policies in a multi-user interactive computing environment by end user review. For example, one disclosed embodiment provides, on a computing device, a method comprising receiving a notification of a current policy controversy, and sending information regarding the current policy controversy to each end user reviewer of a plurality of end user reviewers, each end user reviewer being a member of an enforcement federation of a plurality of enforcement federations. The method further comprises receiving enforcement decisions from one or more responding end user reviewers of the plurality of end user reviewers, and if the enforcement decisions received meet an enforcement threshold, then automatically enforcing a policy rule.

One or more computers are connected to a specifications database. The computers are configured to receive end-user configurations corresponding to first equipment; retrieve one or more second equipment, as well as second equipment specifications from the specifications database; calculate an invoicing statement for the second equipment; and provide an engineering review report of the energy savings realized by implementing the second equipment. The first equipment may be an existing equipment, while the second equipment is one or more energy-efficient replacement alternatives to the first equipment. Each step is performed in real-time, using automated software modules and sub-modules. The engineering review report is applicable as an instant approval or pre-approval, qualifying the end-user for purchase incentives, which apply when the energy-efficient equipment alternatives are adopted by the end-user.

    At present, microorganisms are mainly preserved by freeze-drying. There is, however, lack of studies conducted on various cheaper yet promising convective air-drying alternatives. Convective air-drying has been proven to produce dried culture with comparable cell survival and final moisture content to that of freeze-drying. This paper aims to draw an understanding to application and suitability of convective air-drying which includes spray, oven, heat pump, fluidized bed, conveyor, and rotary drying to preserve microorganisms. The paper concludes that drying near ambient temperature and the addition of dehydration protectants are important to obtain satisfactory drying quality.

  • Detection of pathogenic bacteria by magneto-immunoassays:a review

    Magnetic particle-based immunoassays are widely used in microbiology-related assays for both microbial capture,separation,analysis,and detection.Besides facilitating sample operation,the implementation of micro-to-nanometer scale magnetic beads as a solid support potentially shortens the incubation time(for magnetic immuno capture)from several hours to less than an hour.Analytical technologies based on magnetic beads offer a rapid,effective and inexpensive way to separate and concentrate the target analytes prior to detection.Magneto-immuno separation uses magnetic particles coated with specific antibodies to capture target microorganisms,bear the corresponding antigens,and subsequently separate them from the sample matrix in a magnetic field.The method has been proven effective in separating various types of pathogenic bacteria from environmental water samples and in eliminating background interferences.Magnetic particles are often used to capture target cells(pathogenic bacteria)from samples.In most commercially available assays,the actual identification and quantitation of the captured cells is then performed by classical microbiological assays.This review highlights the most sensitive analytic methods(i.e.,long-range surface plasmon resonance and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy)to detect magnetically tagged bacteria in conjunction with magnetic actuation.

    Significant progress has been made in magnesium-based composites during recent decades,especially for the appearance of magnesium matrix composite reinforced by nanoparticles.The nanoparticles added not only exhibit a good strengthening effect,but also maintain the initial toughness of the matrix,effectively balancing the contradiction between the strength and plasticity in the traditional magnesium matrix composites.The magnesium matrix nanocomposites with excellent mechanical properties have pushed the development of magnesium matrix composites to a new stage.However,it is very difficult to disperse the nanoparticles in metal melt especially in magnesium melt which is different from other metal melts and dangerous during the cast processing.This means that the preparation of magnesium matrix nanocomposite is extremely challenging.Further,the magnesium matrix nanocomposites possess a distinctive characteristic in deformation behavior,strengthening and toughening mechanism due to their special size effect of nanoparticles.Accordingly,this review will focus on the new preparation technologies,deformation behavior,mechanical properties and strengthening and toughening mechanisms.The potential applications,development trends and future research ideas of magnesium matrix nanocomposite are also prospected.©2020 Published by Elsevier B.V.on behalf of Chongqing University.
