  • Some inequalities for thes-Godunova–Levin type functions

    ?zdemir   M. Emin

In this paper, first, we obtained two new \(s\)-Godunova–Levin type inequalities about “the mean value Theorem for integrals”. Second, some inequalities were proved for mappings \(q\)th powers of first derivatives belonging to class \(Q_{s}(I)\) using the Čebyšev’s inequality, H ölder inequality, Power mean inequality, and some other classical inequalities. Finally, some error estimates for the Trapezoidal formula are also given. The results obtained are consistent with literature.

  • Serum cytokine levels in Kleine–Levin syndrome

Kornum, Birgitte Rahbek   Rico, Thomas   Lin, Ling   Huang, Yu-Shu   Arnulf, Isabelle   Jennum, Poul   Mignot, Emmanuel

Highlights • Kleine–Levin Syndrome (KLS) is a rare episodic sleep disorder. • The pathogenesis of Kleine–Levin Syndrome is unknown but could involve the immune system. • Serum was collected from 52 people with KLS, 28 of which were taken during an episode. • The levels of 51 cytokines and chemokines were overall similar in serum collected in and out of an episode. Abstract Objective Kleine–Levin Syndrome (KLS) is a rare sleep disorder causing recurrent symptomatic episodes of severe hypersomnia, cognitive impairment, apathy, and derealization. These episodes are interspersed with long periods of normal sleep, cognition, and behavior. The pathogenesis of KLS is still unknown. The objective of this study was to determine serum cytokine levels in patients with KLS during and between episodes. Patients/Methods Fifty-two typical KLS patients were included in the study of whom 17 patients donated blood samples both during and between episodes. Blood samples were collected in USA, France, and Taiwan in a clinical setting. Processing of the samples was performed at the Stanford Center for Sleep Sciences and Medicine. Results We did not observe any changes in serum cytokine levels during KLS episodes compared to between episodes. In a small cohort of asymptomatic KLS patients and age- and gender matched healthy controls (n = 8/group) whose blood samples were all collected and processed at the same day; asymptomatic KLS patients had significantly higher levels of serum sVCAM1 cytokine compared to healthy controls. Conclusion These data suggest that KLS episodes are not accompanied by an abnormal systemic immune reaction.

  • On enriching the Levin–Wen model with symmetry

Chang, Liang   Cheng, Meng   Cui, Shawn X   Hu, Yuting   Jin, Wei   Movassagh, Ramis   Naaijkens, Pieter   Wang, Zhenghan   Young, Amanda

Symmetry protected (SPT) and symmetry enriched topological (SET) phases of matter are of great interest in condensed matter physics due to new materials such as topological insulators. The Levin-Wen (LW) model for spin/boson systems is an important rigorously solvable model for studying 2D topological phases. The input data for the LW model is a unitary fusion category, but the same model also works for unitary multi-fusion categories. In this paper, we provide the details for this extension of the LW model, and show that the extended LW model is a natural playground for the theoretical study of SPT and SET phases of matter.
