  • Enhanced adsorption of Pb(II) ions from aqueous solution by persimmon tannin-activated carbon composites

Wang Yong   Wang Fuzhong   Wan Tao   Cheng Shunlin   Xu Guoqing   Cao Rui   Gao Ming

The modification of activated carbon with persimmon tannin and its application for the removal of Pb(II) ions were carried out by batch method. The effects of solution pH, contact time, temperature and initial concentration on the immobilization of persimmon tannin were studied. The experimental results showed that the experimental data of persimmon tannin and Pb(II) fitted better by Langmuir adsorption isotherm model and pseudo-second order model. The adsorption capacities of adsorbents for persimmon tannin and Pb(II) were calculated from the Langmuir isotherm model, and found to be 42.97 and 12.40 mg/g at optimum pH, respectively. It was noted that the adsorbent exhibited the best adsorption property for Pb(II) when 1.0 g activated carbon was modified by 17.32 mg persimmon tannin. The modified activated carbon is more effective than the plain activated carbon, and it is expected to be an economic and effective adsorbent for the disposal of wastewater containing Pb(II) ions.

  • Research on the control strategy of simply voltage space-vector for three-phase inverters - art. no. 63582O

Guan Miao   Shen Songhua   Wang Yong

The three-phase inverters with the conventional space-vector pulse wide modulation (SVPWM) have fast dynamic response, but it is complex to be implemented and needs highly speed microprocessor. A new simplified SVPWM is proposed in this paper. The control circuit is very simply and it can be realized with analogy parts or simply microprocessor. Based on the theory analyzing, the duty ratio formulas are given. By the formulas the duty ratio can be computed and the simplified SVPWM is implemented on the inverter. The proposed method has the advantage of conventional SVPWM method with fast dynamic response and it is simple to be implemented. The new simplified SVPWM is validated by computer simulation and experiment. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed new method is valid and feasible.

  • Preparation and characterization of carbon nano-sheet powders

Yang Wubao   Zhao Zhen   Fang Songhua   Wang Yong   Yang Size   Lin Li

Carbon nanosheet films were deposited on At substrates by using plasma assisted chemical vapor deposition (PACVD) technique. And after being peeled off from At substrates, carbon nanosheet powders (CNSPs) were obtained. In Raman spectrum of carbon film, there was a strong and broadened peak at about 1,580 cm(-1), indicating a carbon diamond-like film. Atomic force microscope image showed that the carbon diamond-like film had a grain size less than 100 nm, and its surface roughness Ra was 17.95 nm in an area of 5x5 mu m(2). The CNSPs were irregular sheets with curly edges and a length of several micrometers to several hundreds of micrometers. The BET surface area of CNSPs was 6.66 m(2)/g with no micro-pore present, which was confirmed by N-2 adsorption-desorption characterization. In the adsorption testing, when the relative pressure p/p(0) was higher than 0.3, the adsorption behavior did not follow the Langmuir equation. The addition of CNSPs to carbon black (catalyst support) could improve hydrodesulfurization performance of carbon supported Ni-W catalysts for diesel oil.

  • The study on therapy effect of Danqi pill to renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) and lipid metabolism disorder in coronary heart disease

Wang Yong   Li Chun   Ouyang Yulin   Chuo Wenjing   Yu Junda   Han Jing   Chen Jianxin   Wang Wei

The objective of this work is to inquire whether the myocardial ischemia (MI) could lead to plasma lipid metabolism disorders and Danqi Pill (DQP)'s pharmacological effects on coronary heart disease (CHD). Ameroid ring was placed on left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) to prepare CHD model of chronic MI on Chinese mini-swine. Echocardiography was employed to measure cardiac function. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Western blot was used to detect key molecules such as nitric oxide (NO), angiotensin II (Ang II), aldosterone (Ald), oxidized-low density lipoprotein (ox-LDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) and NADPH oxidase (NOX4). Radioimmunoassay (RIA) was applied to evaluate the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Lipid metabolism disorder was mediated by MI, represented by the up-regulation of ox-LDL, LDL and VLDL, caused by RAAS activation. Plasma Ang II and Ald in model group were increased while NO decreased by 25.20%. NOX4 and ROS were also up-regulated significantly. Compared with model group, plasma Ang II and Ald in DQP group were decreased, while ox-LDL and LDL decreased, respectively and NO decreased by 47.60%. NOX4 and malondialdehyde (MDA) almost returned to normal level. Echocardiograph showed that ejection fraction (EF) improved significantly, with the improvement of left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDd). MI can lead to plasma lipid metabolism disorders and RAAS activation. DQP can down-regulate plasma Ang II and Ald, thus to reduce the ox-LDL and LDL level mediated by NOX4-ROS pathway; it also can increase NO levels, eventually promote heart function.

  • A novel construction scheme of QC-LDPC codes based on the RU algorithm for optical transmission systems

Yuan Jian-guo   Liang Meng-qi   Wang Yong   Lin Jin-zhao   Pang Yu

A novel lower-complexity construction scheme of quasi-cyclic low-density parity-check (QC-LDPC) codes for optical transmission systems is proposed based on the structure of the parity-check matrix for the Richardson-Urbanke (RU) algorithm. Furthermore, a novel irregular QC-LDPC(4 288, 4 020) code with high code-rate of 0.937 is constructed by this novel construction scheme. The simulation analyses show that the net coding gain (NCG) of the novel irregular QC-LDPC(4 288,4 020) code is respectively 2.08 dB, 1.25 dB and 0.29 dB more than those of the classic RS(255, 239) code, the LDPC(32 640, 30 592) code and the irregular QC-LDPC(3 843, 3 603) code at the bit error rate (BER) of 10(-6). The irregular QC-LDPC(4 288, 4 020) code has the lower encoding/decoding complexity compared with the LDPC(32 640, 30 592) code and the irregular QC-LDPC(3 843, 3 603) code. The proposed novel QC-LDPC(4 288, 4 020) code can be more suitable for the increasing development requirements of high-speed optical transmission systems.

  • Mechanism Underlying Antitumor Effects of Sinomenine

GAO Le-nyu   ZHONG Bing   WANG Yong

Sinomenine(SIN) is a bioactive alkaloid compound extracted from a Chinese medicinal plant Sinomenium acutum. It is a multitarget antitumor natural substance. Various mechanisms have been proposed for the antitumor effects of SIN, such as direct cytotoxicity, induction of apoptosis, sensitization attenuating radiotherapy and chemotherapy, reversal of drug resistance, resistance to distant metastasis, and antiangiogenesis. SIN can be used as a tumor cell killer and an adjuvant to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. However, recent studies are mostly limited to the basic experimental stage; no systematic clinical studies have yet been reported. Therefore, this paper aimed to review the mechanism underlying the antitumor effects of SIN by consulting relevant domestic and foreign studies and to provide a relevant reference for further development, use, and exploration of SIN.

  • A novel down-hole fiber optic sensor based on Fabry-Perot cavity and fiber Bragg gratings

Wang Yong   Chen Shao-hua   Zhang Peng   Tao Guo   Zhao Kun

With the rapid development of fiber optic sensing technology, more and more related monitoring programs begin to play an important role in oil and gas exploration. In the past, down-hole monitoring of temperature and pressure was dependent on pump partner, electronic pressure gauge and the capillary pressure gauge. However, such devices show many disadvantages in stability, reliability, accuracy and so on. In the interest of special anti-corrosion, seals, high temperature, high pressure treatment, and long life, the fiber optic sensor is critically investigated and a new design approach of fiber temperature and pressure sensor based on Fiber Bragg Gratings and Fabry-Perot Cavity is presented, respectively. The temperature and pressure resolution of this sensor can be as high as 0.3 degrees C and 3psi. Meanwhile, the sensor can work under the condition from 0 to 15000psi and from -25 to 300 degrees C. This paper describes the technical principles, characteristics and field application of the sensor in detail.

  • Rapid identification of switched systems: A data-driven method in variational framework

LI ChunJiang   HUANG ZhiLong   WANG Yong   JIANG HanQing

Switched systems, i.e., systems changing the parameter values(even structural forms) abruptly and randomly at arbitrary instants, have been extensively utilized in many fields of modern industries. Rapid identification of switched systems, i.e.,capturing all the changing instants and reconstructing the mathematical models rapidly, is of great significance for behavior prediction, performance evaluation and possible control, but is restricted by small data amount available. Here, the rapid identification problem is successfully solved by a data-driven method in variational framework. The data-driven method only requires a small amount of data due to the compact form of the variational description, and is robust to data noise due to the holistic viewpoint. Two numerical examples, i.e., Duffing oscillator and van der Pol system(as two representative systems in nonlinear dynamics), are adopted to illustrate its application, efficiency and robustness to noise.

  • Recovery of copper sulfate after treating As-containing wastewater by precipitation method

Zheng Ya-jie   Wang Yong   Xiao Fa-xin   Luo Yuan

The solid sodium hydroxide neutralized acidic As-containing wastewater till pH value was 6. Green copper arsenite was prepared after copper sulfate was added into the neutralized wastewater when the molar ratio of Cu to As was 2:1 and pH value of the neutralized wastewater was adjusted to 8.0 by sodium hydroxide. The arsenious acid solution and red residue were produced after copper arsenite mixed with water according to the ratio of liquid to solid of 4:1 and copper arsenite was reduced by SO(2) at 60 degrees C for 1 h. The white powder was gained after the arsenious acid solution was evaporated and cooled. Copper sulfate solution was obtained after the red residue was leached by H(2)SO(4) solution under the action of air. The results show that red residue is Cu(3)(SO(3))(2).2H(2)O and the white powder is As(2)O(3). The leaching rate of Cu reaches 99.00% when the leaching time is 1.5 h, molar ratio of H(2)SO(4) to Cu is 1.70, H(2)SO(4) concentration is 24% and the leaching temperature is 80 degrees C. The direct recovery rate of copper sulfate is 79.11% and the content of CuSO(4).5H(2)O is up to 98.33% in the product after evaporating and cooling the copper sulfate solution.

  • Energy metabolism disorder and myocardial injury in chronic myocardial ischemia with Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome based on 2-DE proteomics

Wang Yong   Chuo Wen-jing   Li Chun   Guo Shu-zhen   Chen Jian-xin   Yu Jun-da   Wang Wei

To inquire the characteristic proteins in chronic myocardial ischemia by testing twodimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) map to explore the possible inherent pathological mechanism and the therapeutic intervention of qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. Ameroid constrictor ring was placed on the first interval of left anterior descending coronary artery to prepare chronic myocardial ischemia model on Chinese miniature swine. Animals were randomly divided into sham group and model group with 10 animals in each group, respectively. The dynamic symptoms observation of the four diagnostic information was collected from 0 to 12 weeks. Echocardiography was employed to evaluate cardiac function and the degree of myocardial ischemia, 2-DE and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) were used to carry out proteomics research on animals. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was applied to identify the relevant differential proteins on chronic myocardial ischemia with qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. The preliminary study found that at the 12th week, chronic myocardial ischemia with qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome model was established stably. Compared with the sham group, there were 8 different proteins down-regulated, 22 proteins up-regulated significantly. After validated by MALDITOF-MS/MS, 11 protein spots were identified. Distinct proteins were mainly associated with energy metabolism and myocardial structural injury, including isocitrate dehydrogenase 3 (NAD+) alpha, NADH dehydrogenase (NAD) Fe-S protein 1, chain A (crystal structure of aldose reductase by binding domain reveals a new Nadph), heat shock protein 27 (HSP27), oxidoreductase (NAD-binding protein), antioxidant protein isoform, cardiac troponin T (cTnT), myosin (myosin light polypeptide), cardiac alpha tropomyosin, apolipoprotein A-I and albumin. Down-regulated energy metabolism disorder mediated by NADH respiratory chain and myocardial injury may be the pathogenesis of myocardial ischemia with qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. These proteins may be the potential diagnostic marker(s) for qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome, finally provided new clues for new therapeutic drug target of Chinese medicine.

  • A novel scheme for symbol timing in OFDM WLAN systems

Wang Yong   Ge Jian Hua   Ai Bo   Li Zong Qiang

We focus our research on the coarse symbol timing synchronization technique in wireless local area network (WLAN) COFDM systems. An analysis is made on the difference between the symbol timing synchronization technique in continuous mode transmission systems such as DVB-T and the burst mode transmission systems such as WLAN. A new method to do coarse symbol timing in time domain is proposed. Simulations show that it has distinct advantage over the conventional maximum likelihood (ML) method under multi-path wireless channel conditions. The corresponding field programmable gate array circuit through test in HDTV prototype in Team of Engineering Expert Group (TEEG) proves that the new method is not only suitable for burst mode but also suitable for continuous mode transmission systems.

  • Research of Polarization Imaging Detection Method For Water Surface Target in Foggy Weather

Wang Feng   Yin Cheng-liang   Wang Yong

According to problems of the intensity imaging target detection on water surface in foggy weather such as the indistinction of the target and greatly loss of the target detail, a target detection method based on the target polarization characteristics for water surface target in foggy weather is proposed in this paper. To validate the method's effectiveness, the indoor experiment is performed by using the simulation environment in foggy weather and the outdoor experiment is performed by using the water surface real fog environment. A lot of different intensity images and polarization images are got and then analysed and compared. The experimental results demonstrate that the polarization imaging detection can effectively obtain the polarization information of targets on water surface, and we can detect the water surface targets in foggy weather by polarization information retrieving and the target information restoring.
