At the 2013 American Genetic Association (AGA) Symposium, the AGA Council granted the annual Stephen J. O’Brien Award for best student-authored article published in Journal of Heredity’s 2012 volume. The award honors Dr Stephen J. O’Brien, who served as Editor-In-Chief for the journal from 1987 to 2007. An Award Committee made up of the current Editor-In-Chief, Scott Baker, an Associate Editor, Jill Pecon-Slattery, and a Council member, David Baum, evaluated 14 eligible articles. Council voted to present the award to Dr Melody Porlier for her article, “Habitat-linked population genetic differentiation in the blue tit Cyanistes caeruleus” (supervisors, Dr Dany Garant and Dr Anne Charmentier). …
