DEVICE FOR DETECTING INTER-CYLINDER AIR-FUEL RATIO VARIATION ERROR IN MULTICYLINDER INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

Abstract(summary):

Provided is a device for detecting inter-cylinder air-fuel ratio variation error in a multicylinder internal combustion engine, said device being equipped with: a wastegate passage (26) that bypasses a turbine (25b) of a supercharger (25); a wastegate valve (27) that opens/closes the wastegate passage (26); an air-fuel ratio sensor (17) arranged in the exhaust air passage farther downstream than the exit of the wastegate passage (26); an error detection means that detects inter-cylinder air-fuel ratio variation error by comparing a parameter value that correlates with the degree of deviation in the output from the air-fuel ratio sensor (17) to a prescribed error threshold value; and an exhaust acceleration means that accelerates the exhaust flow. The device also is equipped with a controller (22) that controls the wastegate valve (27) and the exhaust acceleration means, and when an inter-cylinder air-fuel ratio variation error is detected the controller (22) opens the wastegate valve (27) and causes the exhaust acceleration means to accelerate the exhaust flow.
