Managing Change in Copy Cataloging Procedure at the University of San Diego

Author:
Hess   Julia I.

Journal:
Technical Services Quarterly

Issue Date:
2015

Abstract(summary):

In fall 2013, the librarians in Technical Services at the University of San Diego's Copley Library decided to revise the department's copy cataloging procedures in order to make more efficient use of staff time and provide better customer service to the university's faculty and students. This article describes the strategies the librarians used to make the transition as seamless as possible for all stakeholders: cataloging staff, other library employees, and patrons. It also offers some advice for those considering similar projects in their own institutions.
