Excitation function for the Y-89(p,x) Zr-89g nuclear reactions were measured using a stacked-foil activation technique combined with HPGe gamma-ray spectrometry in the proton energy range of 42 MeV down to 3 MeV. Measured data were compared with the earlier reported experimental data available in the literature, theoretical data from the model calculations by the TALYS and ALICE-IPPE codes, and found an overall good agreement among them. Integral yields for the reported radionuclide were deduced using the measured cross-sections. Optimum production circumstances for the Zr-89g radionuclide are discussed elaborately.
